The Color of Water 1-8

Well, this post is kind of late.. but better late than never right? Well, at first I didn't even think I would enjoy this book whatsoever! I just thought it would be something boring that goes on and on about how the poor black men used to live. I was completely wrong. It isn't as bad as I thought it would be, now it's not something I would read just for "fun" though.
I like the mixture of both James' story and his mother's (although it does get confusing at times..) His mother seems like the kind of woman that doesn't care what others think of her. She wants what is best for her children, and would do Anything in her power for them. She is tough on them though, but then again she grew up in a rough family also. She doesn't like to think of people as black and white. To her it's light and dark.
Her saying that God is the color of water, to me, means that God doesn't care what color you are.
